Programming
I was introduced to programming before I even knew what PC stood for. Three components influenced me to program: Atari 600XL Console, Basic Language Cartridge, and "Games For Your Atari Computer" book by Paul Bunn. I remember finishing my first coding project for the game "Hang Man" and then saving it on to a backup cassette tape.
I mentioned earlier about scripting (DOS) and batch file modifications. Then came QBASIC!
In high school, I was selected to participate in a team representing my school in a programming competition. The exercises were timed and strictly based on QBASIC. We ended up taking home the Silver.
Shortly after my QBASIC phase, I studied Visual Basic in Mohawk College. But what I completely got zoned in on was the Linux From Scratch project. I printed out the 500+ page documentation and created my own linux distro name Kynix. It was fantastic! (definitely obsolete and deprecated)
More recently, I have been creating text-based single player games based on programming exercises found in the ninth edition of Joyce Farrell's JAVA Programming. It is an exciting adventure learning a new programming language after so many years.
